Susan “Sue” Elaine (Lippert) Tate, 66 years of age, of Salem, Illinois passed away early Sunday morning June 12, 2022, at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri.
Sue was born in Centralia, Illinois to parents Robert and LaDonne (Hahn) Lippert on October 14, 1955.
Sue graduated from Carlyle High School in 1974. In her adult years, her professional passion was caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She was an employee of Bryan Manor in Salem for many years.
Loved ones left to mourn her loss include her loving husband, Jay Dee Tate of Salem. She is also survived by her son Matt Woods (wife: Kelley) of Iuka, daughter Christina Woods (fiancé: Harold Hull Jr.) of Salem, Timothy Woods of Salem, and Joshua Tate (fiancé: Gracie Hawkins) of Salem. Sue had many passions in her life but there was nothing she was more passionate about than her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Grandchildren left to mourn her absence are Rachel Foster (husband: Kyle) of Iuka, Victoria Woods of Iuka, Claudia Woods (fiancé: Dustin Quick) of Salem, Lindzie Hull (husband: Daniel) of Salem, Izaiah Woods of Salem, Kyle Starr, Dayton Woods, and Emma Woods all of Junction City, and soon-to-arrive grandson Jaxtyn Dale Tate of Salem. Sue has three siblings left to mourn her passing: Ginger Patten, Jane Cavins, and Earl Lippert. Nephews left to mourn her passing include Jordon Lippert, Jeremy Lippert, and Steven Norris. Best friend left to mourn her passing is Patty Arnold.
Sue was preceded in death by two daughters, Lindy Sue Woods and Rebecca Woods, her parents Robert and LaDonne Lippert, and long-time best friend Brenda Grieder.
Sue was unique and had many passions. Of these, she enjoyed singing, dancing, karaoke, drawing, drinking coffee, and sharing her opinions with or without filtering them. We’ll miss her compassionate and caring nature and her witty, sassy grit. She never filtered her comments nor held back her opinion. A person always knew where they stood with Sue. Of her many quotes, the one that speaks to her best is “Don’t talk to me before I’ve had my coffee”. Sue will forever be missed but her vibrant, unique personality remains with each of us forever. “It’s hard to forget someone who gave me so much to remember”- Sujish Kandampully
Per Sue’s wishes, she will be cremated, and the family will dedicate a location to release the ashes at a later date. The family will also have a Celebration of Life dinner for close family and friends with the date to be determined later. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting the family with arrangements.
