NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Rangers are now 4-0 in potential elimination games this postseason.
Filip Chytil (HEE’-tul) scored twice and the Rangers forced a Game 7 in their Stanley Cup second-round series by downing the Hurricanes, 5-2.
Tyler Motte (MAHT’) and Mika Zibanejad (MEE’-kah zih-BAN’-eh-jad) tallied 2 ½ minutes apart to put the Rangers ahead, 2-0 midway through the first period. Chytil added a pair of second-period goals to put the Blueshirts back in control.
Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin (ahr-TEH’-mee pah-NA’-rihn) had power-play goals to support Igor Shesterkin (shehs-TUR’-kihn), who finished with 37 saves.
Canes goaltender Antti Raanta (AN’-tee RAHN’-tah) was pulled after allowing three goals on 13 shots.
Game 7 is Monday in Raleigh, where the Hurricanes are 7-0 in the postseason.
