Today is Sectional baseball championship day in 1a/2a. At Effingham, the North Clay Cardinals take their 29-6 record to Effingham to take on National Trail Conference rival Windsor/Stew-Stras for a trip to next week’s Super Sectionals. The Cardinals won their first and only sectional 6 years ago and are looking for their 2nd trip to Supers.
Also in 1a today, Goreville and Steeleville will play from Goreville and at Greenville University the Christ Our Rock Stallions are 12-10 and will take on Carrollton at 11 for a trip to Supers.
In 2a sectional finals today, Freeburg and DuQuoin will play from Benton and at TTown today it’s Columbia and Mater Dei.
In 3a regional finals today at Centralia it will be an all Apollo matchup with Effingham taking on Mattoon and at Highland it’s the hosts at Mascoutah while Mt Vernon hosts Herrin and Triad welcomes Waterloo.
In 4a regional finals today, Edwardsville and Quincy play from Alton and at O’Fallon it’s Belleville East versus West.
