The State High School Track & Field meet is this weekend at O’Brien Stadium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.
The Salem duo of Caleb Smith and Cole Johnson will be throwing this morning. Smith is the top seed in the shot put and is the 17th seed in the discus where Johnson comes in at 14th. In the discus, Centralia’s school record holder, JehChys Brown enters as the 2 seed and Mt Vernon’s Wyatt Pilson is #16.
Also in 2a, Mt Vernon’s Jacob Morrison will compete in the long jump, teammates Dakota Minor and Tanner Koontz will be in the pole vault, Mt Vernon’s Alec Sledge will be in the 110 hurdles and the 300m hurdles, the Rams Trey Mygatt in the 800m, Breese Central’s Marcus Price in the 400m, Olney’s Chase Travis is in the 300m hurdles, Marcus Garrett of Mt Vernon in the 200m. Also running will be Mt Vernon’s 4×100 and 4x200m relay teams along with the 4×400 team from Breese Central.
In 1a, South Central’s London Hails will compete in the long jump for Patoka under a coop agreement between schools. Vandalia’s Christian Duplayee will compete in the pole vault, Altamont’s Ben Roedl in the high jump, Nashville’s Vincent Beaty in the shot put, Nashville’s John Blumhorst and Saxton Hoepker compete in the discus along with Altamotn’s Eric Kollmann, Altamont’s Xander Moschenrose will run in the 100m, Nashville’s Ray Habeck and Flora’s Isaac Stanford in the 800m, Nashville’s Brayden Hunter in the 300m hurdles. Also competing will be the Wesclin 4×400, 4×200 and 4×800 meter teams along with Altamont’s 4x200m squad.
