The Salem Post 128 Junior Legion season got underway last night with an 11-9 loss at Mt Vernon.
Salem trailed 11-3 in the last inning, but scored 6 runs in the inning and had 2 runners on with the games tying run at the plate, but the runner at 2nd base was picked off to end the game.
Keaton Gullion went 2-3 with 2 RBI. Aden Bass doubled home a run going 2-3, Colten Starnes drove in 2 and Cooper Lobek, Colton Shelton, Cody Beard and Braden Rector all drove in runs.
Rhett Detering started the game allowing 3 hits and 3 earned runs. Bass and Beard worked the final 2.2 innings in the game. Out of the 11 runs Salem gave up, only 4 were earned as the defense made 5 errors.
