The SC Lady Cougars softball season came to an end falling to the hosts at the Casey Westfield Sectional 8-0. Laney Webster doubled with singles from Taegan Webster, Brooklyn Garrett, Lilly Malone and Kaitlyn Swift. SC’s season ends at 24-11.
Casey advances to play Windsor/Stew Stras after the Lady Hatchets knocked off Edwards County 5-0. At Goreville it was Trico over Pope County 10-0 and Goreville shutout Woodlawn 2-0. At Marissa, Okawville lost to Hardin Calhoun 10-3 and Marissa over Carrollton 3-1.
In 2a Sectional semifinals yesterday, St Anthony knocked off Bloomington Central Catholic at Maroa 8-6. Lucy Fearday went all 7 scattering 4 hits and striking out 10. Hailey Niebrugge drove in 2, Maddie Kibler homered. The Lady Bulldogs advance to play Tolono after their 9-1 win over Maroa Forsyth.
In 2a sectional play today at Carterville, Pinckneyville will play Mt Carmel and at Gillespie it’s Freeburg taking on Newton.
In 3a regional semifinals, Highland will host Centralia at 4:30. Mt Vernon hosts Effingham and at Triad it’s Jerseyville and Civic Memorial.
Last night in 3a at Marion, the hosts beat Herrin 12-4, Carbondale 6-1 winners over Olney. At Triad, the hosts beat East St Louis 19-0.
