Windy conditions allowed three fire to spread out of control in the Kell Fire Protection District on Monday.
The first fire was at the Nick Jones residence at 7356 State Route 161 Extension in Iuka where an unattended burn eventually spread to four to five acres of woods or grass being being put out. A nearby barn was kept out of the fire. Iuka Firemen provided mutual aid assistance. the fire call came in at 10:21
Monday morning with firemen on the scene about an hour and a half.
The second fire was on the Kody Willman property on the Iuka Road south of the Route 161 Extension. The fire spread from a brush fire through seven to eight acres of woods and set-aside land. It came close to two homes, but there were not damaged. The call came in at 1:22. Firemen were on the scene for more
than three and a half hours.
The third fire call was in the 100 block of Myers Road a half mile north of Walnut Hill Road where a trash fire spread to two or three acres including a large pile of firewood. That call came in at 3:19. Firemen were on the scene for about two hours 45 minutes.
