State Representative Blaine Wilhour of Beecher City has announced he will run for re-election in the newly formed 110th legislative district.
Wilhour says there is a need for more regular working people in the General Assembly who aren’t controlled by special interests that have decimated Southern Illinois.
“We have a lot to offer. We really do, but unfortunately a lot of our communities and our manufacturing and fossil fuel base and all of that has been basically decimated from poor public policy from Springfield and Chicago and that has got to change. And that is what we are trying to do.”
Wilhour is also promising to continue to fight to wrestle control away from Governor Pritzker on COVID-19 related issues.
“Unelected bureaucrats and agencies running completely wild and trampling our constitutional rights and punishing our kids with some of these pointless restrictions in schools so we have a lot to fight for and it’s always crazy in Springfield. I do think the last 2 years takes the cake.”
Wilhour says one of his priorities will be enacting strong anti-corruption reforms, noting things are so bad that the Legislative Inspector General has resigned saying that the General Assembly has no interest in meaningful ethics reform. Another priority is the continued push for reforms to make our communities safer.
The new 110th district includes all of Marion County except the southern half of Romine Township. It also includes the eastern half of Clinton County including the west half of Centralia and Carlyle, all of Fayette County, the far eastern portion of Bond County, southern Effingham County and all of Clay and Richland
Counties.
