2021 08/18 – Edgar Russell St Jean

Edgar Russell St Jean, age 79 of Alma, passed away on August 6, 2021, at IU Health West in Avon, Indiana.

Edgar joined the United States Navy at the age of 18.  After his enlistment, he became a carpenter and masonry worker.  Edgar loved attending his children’s ballgames, during their school years.  He loved to garden, especially growing tomatoes and cucumbers.  He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Kinmundy.  He loved to watch St. Louis Cardinals baseball and John Wayne westerns.  He will be missed by everyone who loved him.

Funeral Services for Edgar Russel St Jean will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Father Abraham Adejho officiating.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 18th, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Alma Cemetery with Military Rites by the Salem American Legion.  Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.

Edgar was born on May 3, 1942, in Putnam, Connecticut the son of Edgar A. St Jean and Helen L. (Clark) St Jean.  He married Susan Mary Langner on October 14, 1967, and she survives in Alma.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Susan Mary St Jean, he is survived by four siblings, Pauline Ayers of Oklahoma City, OK, Ernest St Jean and wife Peggy of Woodstock, CT, Lawrence St Jean, and wife Gail of Chaplin, CT, and John St Jean and wife Janine of Surprise, AZ; sister-in-law, MaryAnn St Jean of Woodstock, CT; four children, Catherine Karschnick of Indianapolis, IN,  Steven St Jean and wife Jennifer of Highland, IL, Patricia Yates and husband Keith of Alma, IL, and Andrew St Jean and wife Karen of Poplar Grove, IL; seven grandchildren, Brandon St Jean, Keith Karschnick,  Myles Yates, Taylor Gannon, Samantha Testin, Katelyn St Jean, and Kyle Motyka; and six great-grandchildren, Allison Bradshaw, Abrahm Gannon, Valerie Yates, Hayden Bradshaw, Vanessa St Jean, and Alaiya Gannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David St Jean.
