Four people arrested over the weekend were formally charged with felony offenses in Marion County Court on Monday.
34-year-old David Huffine of East Church in Salem was charged with felony resisting an officer following a traffic stop in Centralia where he was also arrested for alleged driving under the influence. The charge claims Huffine struggled while being handcuffed causing an injury to a Centralia Police Officer’s left hand and wrist. If found guilty, Huffine could face an extended term due to a prior conviction. Centralia Police say the officer was treated for his injury, but has been able to return to work.
Two others were charged with causing more than $500 damage to a vacuum cleaner and machine in a car wash bay at the Sandoval Car Wash on North Mine Street. Bond for 20-year-old Christopher Bennett of North Hickory in Centralia and Jayce Simpson of Old U.S. 51 in Sandoval were set at $2,500 a piece. Both had public defender’s appointed and were ordered to have no contact with the victim if released on bond.
A 26-year-old Odin man has been charged with felony theft-possession of stolen property. Bradin Taylor of Scott Avenue is accused of having a sledge hammer,
propane torch and individual batteries that he should have known were stolen. While the property was valued at under $500, the charge was elevated to a felony
due to a past conviction. Bond was set at $60,000. A public defender was assigned to represent Taylor. Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say the items
were stolen from a truck parked at an oil rig site in rural Sandoval.
