Power was out in Kinmundy and Alma for about 11 hours after isolated severe thunderstorms passed through the Kinmundy and Forbes State Park area early Sunday night.
Ameren Illinois reports that numerous large tree limbs fell onto power lines, and a broken pole had to be replaced before they could begin restoring power. A total of 630 were left without power beginning around 5:15 Sunday evening until around four Monday morning. Tri-County Electric reported only one small outage in the rural Alma area, which was restored in a short time.
WJBD Facebook fans are reporting at least two barns sustained damage from the wind along the St. Peter Road just north of Kinmundy.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department logged five storm damage calls. A power pole snapped on Route 37 and Sigrist Road northeast of Kinmundy, a tree and power lines down in the 400 block of South Main in Iuka and the 5300 block of Landmark Road in rural Iuka, and trees down on St. Peter Road near Shepards Lane and on Waggoner Road and US 50 east of Iuka.
Other tree damage from strong winds was reported in the Flora and Xenia area in Clay County and in the Boyleston area of Wayne County.
The storm also brought flooding rains, with Effingham reporting up to seven inches of rain and the Flora and Xenia areas just under three inches.
There was no rain or storm activity in Salem and Centralia.
