Salem Township Hospital has re-established the position of Chief Nursing Officer.

An 18-year veteran of the hospital staff Lisa Ambuehl has been hired to fill the position.

Outgoing Hospital President Kendra Taylor says Ambuehl will play a key administrative role.

“The Chief Nursing Officer is a vital role to the administration aspect of the hospital and that was a dual role I’ve been carrying now while I’ve been CEO and I think she will provide a great asset and resource for that to be able to bring with her her experience of 18 years here to continue the work the nursing departments have done.  So yes I think she will play a key role moving forward.”

Ambuehl is looking forward to her new position and hopes she can play a role in future growth of the hospital.

“I will have the nursing departments so that will be out patience clinics, surgical department, ER, in-patient, ICU, infection prevention, in-patient care coordinator and employee health will be things I’ll be over as well as quality.”

Ambuehl says she began work 18 years ago at the hospital as an LPN, advanced to a registered nurse position after completing her college work, and has worked on the floor, ICU and Emergency Room before becoming director of the emergency room and later inpatient services.

Ambuehl had some good news to report during her first meeting. Patient satisfaction scores had improved dramatically in April from the prior month, with inpatient services earning an 84.6- percent rating to recommend, outpatient 97.7-percent and the emergency room 90.6 percent.
