The Veterans Fourth of July Parade Committee has announced that Tammy Guidish will be the 2026 Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal in recognition of her military service, community leadership, and commitment to serving others. The parade is set for one Saturday afternoon, July 4th.
Guidish proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1992 to 1995. She completed basic training during the Gulf War era and entered the Air Force as an Airman First Class, earning two stripes upon enlistment due to her college education. During her military career, she was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas, where she served as a Weather Observer, providing critical weather information in support of Air Force operations.
The committee notes that her professionalism and attention to detail earned her awards recognizing excellence and accuracy in her field. While serving her country, Guidish also embraced the challenges and rewards of raising her children, successfully balancing military responsibilities with family life.
Following her military service, Guidish continued her commitment to veterans and her community. She currently serves as Junior Vice Commander of the Centralia American Legion Post #446, where she works tirelessly to support fellow veterans, promote patriotism, and strengthen community connections.
In addition to her service with the American Legion, Guidish is an active member of the Prairie State Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Lions Club, and the Christian Women’s Fellowship at Calumet Street Christian Church. Through these organizations, she continues to demonstrate her dedication to service, civic engagement, faith, and community involvement.
Guidish’s service, leadership, and dedication embody the spirit of our nation’s Independence Day celebration. The committee says they are honored to recognize her as this year’s Grand Marshal and invite the community to join them in celebrating her accomplishments and contributions.
