2021 06/28 – Dennis E. Robinson

Dennis E. Robinson, 72, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:27 am June 24, 2021 Evelyn’s House in Saint Louis, Missouri. Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. He worked at Continental Tire for 25 years before retirement. Dennis was a proud supporter of the union and very active in the United Steel Worker’s Union. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed weight lifting. In his spare time, Dennis was also a youth sports coach for the local teams. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by many.

A Visitation will be held Monday, June 28, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Scott Rowe officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Dennis’ honor to Evelyn’s House. Dennis is survived by his children, Dawn Westerman and husband, Marc of Jacksonville, Illinois and Mark Robinson and wife, Brandy of Defiance, Missouri; grandchildren, Robert Lockwood and wife, Natalie, Marie McKinnon and husband, Phil, Madison Westerman, Isaak Robinson, Kelby Robinson, and Ryann Robinson; great-grandchildren, Roman Finch, Paxton McKinnon, and Bailey McKinnon; siblings, David Robinson and wife, Linda of Mount Vernon, Rick Robinson and wife, Lori of Kentucky, Steve Robinson and wife, Trisha of Mount Vernon, and Candy Pedigo of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was born April 11, 1949 in Herrin, Illinois to the late James and Juanita (Whitecotton) Robinson. Dennis married Shirley (Newberry) Robinson on December 5, 1970 in Benton, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 48 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on November 11, 2018. In addition to his parents and wife, Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Michael Robinson; grandson, Johnathan Cole Robinson; and brothers, Jim Robinson, Kenny Robinson, John Robinson, and Bob Robinson.
