2021 06/09 – Mary Jane Gee

Mary Jane Gee, 71, of Bonnie, Illinois, passed away at 1:15 am June 7, 2021 at son’s residence in Woodlawn, Illinois.  Mary Jane enjoyed spending time with Ashlyn, Chase, Luke, Hudson, and Brooklyn.  She was a member of Waltonville Community Church and Jefferson County Home and Community Extension. Mary Jane worked as an elderly care taker, a farmer’s wife, and took care of the house and her children. She loved gardening, canning, and cooking. She enjoyed 4-H activities and the St. Louis Cardinals. Mary Jane was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed by those that knew her.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tim Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Mary Jane’s honor to American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, Waltonville Community Church, or Knob Prairie Cemetery. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. Following the CDC and NFDA regulations, we encourage everyone who has not been vaccinated to wear a mask. Mary Jane is survived by her mother, Mary R. Newbury of Sesser, Illinois; sons, Andy Joe Gee and wife, Marrianne of Woodlawn, Illinois, Knox Alan Gee and wife, Krista of New Ulm, Minnesota; grandson, Cooper Knox Gee of New Ulm, Minnesota; brother, Tommy “TD” Dale Newbury and wife, Kay of Sesser, Illinois; sisters, Janice Alice Page and husband, Robert of Benton, Illinois, Janine “Pup” Kelly of Akin, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born June 20, 1949 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Thomas Logan “TL” and Mary R. (Laird) Newbury. Mary Jane married Terry K. Gee on June 29, 1974 in Sesser, Illinois. They were blessed with thirty-eight years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 26, 2013. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her father, Thomas “TL” Logan Newbury and husband, Terry K. Gee.
