Reva Eloise Flanigan, 88, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:05 am May 21, 2021, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon.
Reva was a long-time member of the Nazarene Church and then in later years, she attended New Hope Baptist Church. She had a strong faith in God. She leaves behind many loving friends and family.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Aaron Trotter officiating. Interment will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Reva’s honor to Old Shiloh Cemetery. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. She was born January 6, 1933, in Saint Louis, Missouri to the late Rex L. and Edith (Ashbaugh) Reames.
Reva married Clifford Flanigan on May 12, 1956, in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was his “Lovey” They were a true team. Although Reva had been raised in the city, she took to farm life with Clifford. Along with gardening, canning enough food for the whole year, and raising four kids, she worked the fields disking, raking hay, and cultivating crops. Then when harvest time came, she drove grain trucks hundreds of trips to the elevator. Clifford preceded her in death on December 6, 2017.
Reva is survived by her son, Michael Flanigan and wife, Shari of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughters, Jeanne Junkins and husband, Dave of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Nancy Howard and husband, John of Texico, Illinois, Sherri Boles and husband, Steve of Waterloo, Illinois; grandchildren, Kelley Flanigan of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Jill Williams and husband, Johnny of Wayne City, Illinois, Jacob Flanigan and special friend, Danielle King of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Chloe Flanigan of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Justin Patton and wife, Heather of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Chris Junkins and wife, Jennifer of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Amanda Rincker and husband, Jason of Texico, Illinois, Joe Howard of Texico, Illinois, Jordan Hansen and significant other, Ian Arneaud of Waterloo, Illinois, Jared Boles and wife, Jessica of Mountain Home, Idaho; great-grandchildren, Emeline Rincker, John Rincker, Lexxi Howard, Lily Patton, Kennedy Bliss-Boles, Kathryn Boles, Everett Boles, and brand new arrival, Everley Boles, Adalynn Hansen, Max Williams, Lennon Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Reva was preceded in death by her two brothers and two sisters.
