2021 05/21 – Sherry Ann Wheeler

Sherry Ann Wheeler, 75, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 3:40 am on May 17, 2021, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois.

Sherry loved the Lord and was a devoted woman of prayer.  She was the pillar of her family and touched countless lives through years of ministry. Sherry thoroughly enjoyed playing practical jokes on her family and friends.  She loved holidays, but her favorite time of the year was Christmas when she could spend quality time with her beloved family.  Sherry is dearly loved and will be missed by her many family and friends.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 21, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Terry Buchanan and Reverend Curt Ruch officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.   Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. Following the CDC and NFDA regulations, we encourage everyone who has not been vaccinated to wear a mask. She was born July 13, 1945, in Harmony, Illinois to the late Raymond and Alma (Donoho) Minor. Sherry married Eddie Wheeler on December 22, 1962, at Hoits Addition Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois and he survives in Mount Vernon.

In addition to her beloved husband of fifty-eight years, Sherry is survived by her three children, Trisha Robinson and husband, Steve of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Michele Dyer and husband, Tony of Sailor Springs, Illinois, and Todd Wheeler and wife, Carrie of Woodlawn, Illinois; six grandchildren, Jamie Hardy and husband, Nathan, Ashleigh Smith and husband, Cory, Danielle Abbott and husband, Garrett, Aaron Wheeler and wife, Kaita, Corey Wheeler and wife Arika, and Paul Robinson; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother, Kelly Minor and wife, Jean of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
