Kenny Bratton scored four touchdowns and Ja’Shawn Staples added three as the Centralia Orphans rolled past the Salem Wildcats 49-20 in the 74th annual Shrine Game.
Centralia jumped on Salem early and led 49-6 at halftime.
Bratton found the end zone on a 63-yard punt return, a 43-yard interception return, and touchdown receptions of seven and 37 yards from quarterback Archie Goewey. Staples added touchdown runs of 19 and 36 yards, along with a 68-yard kickoff return.
Goewey finished the night with 172 passing yards, completing seven of his 11 attempts.
Salem got three touchdowns on the ground. Kaeden Bevolo scored on a 27-yard run, Trey Clark added a one-yard touchdown run, and Caeden Miraglia scored from three yards out.
Will Stanton, Staples and Gabe Houser were among the leading tacklers for the Orphans.
The Wildcats will look to bounce back next week when they travel to Olney. The Tigers enter the matchup after falling to Taylorville 47-7. Centralia will play at (1-0) Civic Memorial.
