A 19-year-old Opdyke woman was killed when her car went out of control and overturned on a gravel road between Bluford and Belle Rive in rural Jefferson County last Friday.

Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse identifies the victim as Emily Wollite.   She was pronounced dead at the scene from affixation when her neck became pinned between the ground and the vehicle.

Hayse says after losing control on the gravel of North Falcon Lane, the SUV flipped over on the drovers side where it came to rest.   She was the only one in the vehicle.

Hayse says the crash is believed to have occurred around 12:15 Friday afternoon when a resident in the area heard a bang.   They didn’t investigate and the crash was discovered by another vehicle just after one Friday afternoon.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is handling the crash.   Jefferson Fire was also called to the scene to assist.
