For just the 2nd time in school history, Selmaville Rockets won the battle of Salem knocking off the Franklin Park Bobcats 14-3 on Thursday. Isaac Knapp had a big day with 2 hits including a 3 run homer with 4 runs scored. Jacob Butts also was great with a 3 run homer and 5 rbis. Lucas Howe had 2 hits and 1 rbi while Izak Holsapple scored 3 runs. On the mound, Butts went 5 innings allowing 3 earned runs with 5 strikeouts. Not many positives for the Bobcats who committed 9 errors on the day. Nolan Krutsinger and Maxsen Tiemann had the only two hits. Nash Mulvany started on the mound going 2 2/3 with 6 earned runs and 3 strikeouts. Weston Crouse and Jasen Lindsey pitched in relief.
Patoka improved to 6-0 with their 8-6 win over the Trinity Defenders. Grant Eddy was the winning pitcher allowing 2 hits and 2 earned runs over 4 innings with 7 strikeouts. Carter Thompson collected the save. Nolan Eddy and Noah Cain drove in 2 runs each. Also driving in Patoka runs were Brody Spicer, Grant Eddy and Knox Kuhn.
South Central beat Sigel St Michael 13-1. Jayden Gullion was the winning pitcher as he gave up one run and no hits with a pair of strikeouts. Davin Webster went 2-3 with 3 RBI. Tanner Sporleder and Webster had 2 hits. The Falcons are back at it today at home against North Clay.
Also in middle school baseball, Flora over Lawrenceville 14-2, Marion beat Benton 12-4 and North Clay 8-5 over Iuka.
