The Patoka/Odin Mohawks jumped on the Rams early Tuesday, scoring 12 runs in the opening inning on their way to a 16-2 victory.

The Mohawks sent 12 runs across the plate in the first, taking advantage of a combination of walks, timely hits and Rams errors.

Grant Eddy and Josh Buonaura each drew walks that brought home runs, while John Garrett delivered a two-run single. Two more runs scored on an error before Carter Thompson added an RBI single.

The Mohawks continued to capitalize on Rams miscues, with additional runs scoring on errors before Brody Spicer delivered an RBI single to cap the big inning.

Patoka/Odin added two more runs in the third. Drake Carbaugh drew a walk before a wild pitch brought home a run, and Jeffery Ritchy’s groundout also contributed to the scoring.

Garrett earned the win on the mound, tossing two scoreless innings while allowing no hits. The right-hander struck out five and walked one. Carbaugh also saw action in relief.

Garrett, batting seventh in the Mohawks lineup, drove in three runs while going 1-for-2. Noah Cain set the pace offensively from the top of the order, going 2-for-2 to lead the team in hits.

The Mohawks also showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks. Buonaura and Nick Scarbrough each drew two walks.

Patoka/Odin played a clean game defensively, committing no errors. Nolan Eddy recorded a team-high five defensive chances.

The Mohawks’ offensive outburst and strong pitching put the game out of reach early as they secured the 16-2 victory.
