Jack Dodson went 3-3 leading Marion to a 12-3 win over Bronx, New York to win the Colt World Series championship. Trailing in the top of the 3rd, Marion took the lead after Haiden Lange singled down the left field line, Kruz Koester tripled, and Hayden Harriss added a sac fly, with each play bringing home a run. Fisher Watts tossed four innings of relief for Marion for starter Brayden Bethel. Lange drove in 3 runs going 2-3 with Koester and Landon Boyd each with multi-hit games for Marion. The team also includes Centralia Gabe Houser.
The Bronx made the finals after eliminating Southern Illinois 2-1 scoring the go ahead run in the sixth inning. Gavin Johnson hit a solo home run for Southern Illinois. Jace Smothers was the starter allowing 4 hits and 1 run over 4.2 in the loss. Mt Vernon’s Bronx Hefner also had a hit in the loss for Southern Illinois.
Marion’s Jack Dodson led the tournament in stolen bases, Connor Barwick of Simi Valley, California was the batting champion and the ERA leader for the tournament was Southern Illinois’ Owen Kueker.
