Centralia city firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at the Kelly Alexander home at 424 S. Pine at noon Tuesday and found smoke coming from the rear of the residence.
Firefighters quickly found the source of the smoke, a trash fire in the basement. They were quickly able to extinguish the fire and contain it to a small area with a water can and one line. The house was then cleared of smoke before foam was applied so the fire wouldn’t rekindle.
All available off-duty firefighters were called in to assist while Centralia police officers secured the area.
There was no reported damage or injuries reported.
