The General and Parade Chair of the 55th Annual Little Egypt Festival Parade was pleased with the event that drew a large crowd with the help of near perfect weather.

Jay Henke says every part of the parade went well.

“I was at the top of the hill feeding people in,” Henke said. “It was fun up there, the floats looked good, and it’s beautiful weather today. It looked like we had a huge crowd and weather plays a big factor in that. The parade was good. Our downtown vendor area was as big as I’ve seen in a long time… things just seemed to go pretty good.”

Henke was pleased with the number of entries from new businesses and while regular builders of floats were missing, he’s optimistic they will return next year.

The parade was led by Grand Marshal Steve Ludwig, the owner of Salem Bowl who has helped countless young people learn the spill and has led Salem High School to several state championships.   He selected an entry featuring bowling and buying a new home from Equity 55 Real Estate for the grand marshals trophy.
