The Centralia High School Board of Education authorized up to $530,000 in general obligation debt certificates to put money toward facility improvements including fixing sidewalk and replacing the pump for the school sprinkler system. Superintendent Chuck Lane said that because the school will be able to pay off the debt certificates using existing sources of revenue, they are preferable to a bond issue and will have no impact on taxpayers.

Repairs on the sidewalk in front of the school are expected to be finished next week. Lane said that resurfacing of the track will be done by the start of the football season, though lines and markings may not yet be applied depending on the timing.

Registration dates are set for the coming school year. Students and parents are encouraged to complete online pre-registration as soon as possible. All students and parents should have received registration information in the mail. Anyone who should have received a packet and did not should contact the CHS main office during regular business hours. All parental logins and passwords have been changed and will be included in the packet. Anyone without home internet will be able to come to CHS on August 5th or 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to use a school computer.

Registration will be August 7 for seniors, August 10 for Juniors and Sophomores, and August 11 for freshmen. Annex registration is August 7. Freshman orientation will be August 13 and the first day of school will be August 14.

The board accepted the resignation of Al Bazile as physical education teacher effective July 3.
