Marion County Treasurer Gary Purcell is giving taxpayers a break who missed last Friday’s deadline to pay the first installment of property taxes.
Purcell says payments can be made through Friday without penalty.
Purcell decided to grant the extension because this year’s property tax bill was due a week earlier than in past years and because of the lines to pay taxes, he did not provide a public reminder of the deadline a week before they were due.
Purcell says property taxes can be paid in all the usual locations through Friday, including his office, financial institutions, and the drop box outside the west side of the courthouse. You can also pay via credit or debit card or by mail if it is postmarked on or before Friday.
