The Centralia City Council voted on Monday to approve an amendment to a development agreement with Re:purpose Development allowing for an additional $160,000 in TIF reimbursements. That number is added to the existing reimbursement of $160,000.  The maximum amount of reimbursement remains at $375,000. The increased reimbursement supports the company’s development of the property at 102 East Broadway as part of the Winery Block project. Re:purpose Development has developed several downtown locations to host new businesses alongside the Crooked Creek Winery, including Colden Brewery, Centralia House, and the Sporting House.

City manager Galen Mahle noted that the amended agreement still leaves plenty of TIF funding available for other projects. With the agreement approved, the expected remaining balance in the downtown TIF at the end of the year is roughly $923,000. Mahle said that anyone interested in developing a business in Centralia should reach out to city hall to see what funding sources may be available to support them.

The council also approved the purchase of a 2022 EXCMG Trackhoe from Diamond Equipment for $122,750. Bidding requirements were waived to acquire the trackhoe through a rent-to-buy agreement, putting 70% of the city’s previous payments to rent the machine toward the cost of buying it. The retail value of the trackhoe is $184,500.
