Murray Center held a 250th Anniversary patriotic parade on Friday, July 10th. The parade was led by a group of Murray residents holding the American flag and a 250th Anniversary banner. Each cottage was represented in the parade with decorated side by sides, jeeps, or golf carts. Families joined the fun with decorated cars, and trailers.
The Murray Parents Association decorated their trailer and a large group of individuals rode on the trailer waving American flags. The Centralia Fire Department, police department, and EMS vehicles also participated. Two Murray individuals rode with Centralia Mayor Bryan Kuder in the parade route. Representative Charlie Meier also joined the fun by driving his John Deere tractor in the parade. Residents rode on Wamac’s Little Toot Train. Local community members drove their classic cars in the parade. Murray Center Santa Morris Fullerton drove his red convertible in the parade. The Little Pink Dolls Dance team marched in the parade.
The Activity Department handed out treats after the parade, and the Little Pink Dolls Dance team performed in the gym for the residents. Individuals, staff and family members not in the parade watched from the cottages as the parade circled the center.
