The Salem Fire Protection District was called out early Sunday morning to put out an illegal rubbish fire. Police had first tried to reach the residents at 1300 North Trenary. When no one answered, the fire department was called. The fire call came in at 1:59 Sunday morning.
The Centralia City Fire Department was called to Dan’s Meat Market at South Locust and 13th Street on Saturday morning when an outside grill caught fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire department and an employee before it could spread to the building.
