Freeburg High School graduate Dakota Murphy added another impressive accomplishment to her rodeo career Wednesday night, winning the Burnin’ Up Buckle Series at Wild Fire Ranch in Ewing. Competing in the WPRA and Illinois Barrel Racing Association sanctioned event, Murphy and her horse, Miss Guys Express, posted the fastest time of the night at 14.362 seconds to claim the championship. Murphy, who won the National Little Britches Rodeo Association World Breakaway Championship in 2021, continues to build on her success at the professional level, crediting years of hard work and the partnership with her horse, known as “JW,” for another memorable victory.
