Salem High School graduate Aaden “The Rooster” Rostance will continue both his baseball and academic career this fall after announcing his commitment to pitch for Shawnee Community College.

The right-handed pitcher made the announcement on social media, saying he is “extremely blessed” for the opportunity while thanking “God, family, coaches, teammates and everyone who has shown me support.”

Rostance’s college opportunity comes after a senior season in which he emerged as one of Salem’s most dependable arms. Following a significant growth spurt before his final high school campaign, the 6-foot-1 right-hander developed into a key contributor on the mound for the Wildcats, leading the team in earned run average while taking on some of the toughest assignments throughout the season. He also turned in several strong performances down the stretch, including an eight-strikeout outing over five innings against Mattoon.

His development was a testament to patience and perseverance. Rostance continued to improve each season, gaining velocity and confidence as he matured physically. By his senior year, he had become an important leader for the Wildcats’ pitching staff while also contributing offensively when called upon.

Now, Rostance will take the next step in his baseball journey with the Shawnee Community College Saints, an NJCAA Division I program that competes in Region 24 and has a tradition of developing players throughout southern Illinois.

The opportunity allows Rostance to continue competing at a high level while pursuing his college education close to home. His commitment is the latest example of a Salem athlete earning the chance to extend a playing career at the collegiate level through dedication, hard work and continued development.

Congratulations to Aaden Rostance on his commitment to Shawnee Community College, and best of luck as he begins the next chapter of his baseball career with the Saints.
