The opening night of the Salem Little League Girls Majors end-of-season tournament delivered plenty of excitement Tuesday evening as Security Alarm staged a dramatic late comeback to defeat Somer Real Estate 16-13 at the Salem Little League Complex.

Security Alarm found itself chasing the game from the opening inning and entered the sixth and final frame trailing by five runs. That’s when the offense came alive.

With the tying runs on base, Jayla Tabor delivered the biggest hit of the night, ripping a two-run double to put Security Alarm in front for the first time all game. Moments later, Kaylee Carroll added another clutch double to cap the rally. Carroll finished with three RBIs and also earned the victory in the circle.

Security Alarm received contributions throughout the lineup. Jersey Thorpe, Kinzley Cauthron and Zoey Fenton each drove in a run, while Mira Deadmond crossed the plate four times. Danyell Burgess, Sophia Williams and Carleigh Hawkins each scored twice to help fuel the comeback victory.

Somer Real Estate put together a strong offensive performance despite coming up just short. Berkleigh Garden led the way by going 3-for-4 while scoring three runs. Grey Garden added a pair of hits, and Lilly Krajefska and Karmen Murray each scored twice.

The thrilling comeback sends Security Alarm into the next round of the Girls Majors Tournament after overcoming a five-run deficit in the final inning to open postseason play in dramatic fashion.
