Karen Sue McIntosh, age 68, of Centralia, Illinois, formerly of Iuka, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Axiom Gardens in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Karen was born on October 6, 1957, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Estel and Edith (Featherly) Hickey. She married Gary McIntosh on November 1, 1975, in Salem, and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2015.
Karen worked for many years in home health care with Addus Homecare before her retirement. She enjoyed spending her time working on crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Among her favorite authors were Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Danielle Steel, and Nora Roberts. She found great enjoyment in getting lost in a good book and treasured the simple pleasures of life.
Survivors include her sons, Gary McIntosh of Oblong and significant other, Susan Hewing of Windsor, and Michael McIntosh and wife Meagan of Xenia; and five grandchildren, Abigail McIntosh, Maleeya McIntosh, Madilyn McIntosh, Mackenzi McIntosh, and Madisyn McIntosh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Estel and Edith Hickey; her husband, Gary McIntosh; and her brothers, Larry Hickey and Rick Hickey.
