Roberta F. “Bert” Davis passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Salem Township Hospital surrounded by her family that she loved dearly.
Roberta was born on July 21, 1935, in Sumner, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Gawthorp and Rachel (Taylor) Gawthorp. She married Forrest “Pat” Davis on July 21, 1951, in Mansfield, Illinois, and together they shared many years of marriage before his passing in 1990.
Roberta was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest was in grade school and then worked for Dr. Rubio and Dr. Aguilar at Salem Medical Center for many years. She then worked for Dr. Suppiah until her retirement. She made many friendships during those years which have stood the test of time.
Roberta grew up in a family surrounded by love and music which she carried with her throughout her entire life. She enjoyed country line dancing back when she was able, being creative with crafts, playing games on her phone and working her Suduko puzzles. But most of all and at the top of her list she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially snuggling the many grandbabies she was blessed with. Her home was always open as were her arms for those warm hugs and sweet kisses she gave out so freely. Her family was blessed beyond measure to call her their own.
Roberta is survived by her daughters, Toni Davis of Okawville, Illinois, Kari (Marty) Denzik of Salem, Illinois, and Lisa (Eddy) Mulvany of Salem, Illinois. Grandchildren Stacy (Chris) Kirkland of Quitman, Texas, Jamie (Mike) Berbaum of Monticello, IL, Nathan (Brittany) Davis of Okawville, IL, Kimberly Davis of Farmer City, IL, Katie (Mike) Crawford of Mansfield IL, Caleb Davis of Mansfield, IL, Cody (Ivey) Davis of Fisher, IL, Chris (Megan) Denzik of Gallatin, TN, Kayla (Ted) Dietz of Ballwin, MO, Curtis (Keisha) Denzik of Iola, IL, Andy (Melody) Mulvany of Water Valley, MS, Patrick (Holly) Smith of Lavergne, TN, and Randy Mulvany of Salem, IL, along with 39 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren with another one on the way and daughter-in-law, Pam Pease of Fort Myers, FL.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her oldest daughter, Patti Mitchell, and her son, Randy Davis.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Salem Hospital and the EMT’s for their care of Roberta during her final hours and the kindness and compassion shown for the family as they faced the loss of their dear mom/ grandmother.
Per her wishes, Roberta will be cremated. A visitation will be held at The Harvest Room in Salem on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the Mansfield United Methodist Church in Mansfield, Illinois on Friday, May 15th from 11:00 a.m. to noon with a graveside service to follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
