Area residents are being given a chance to recycle no longer wanted electronic items and to get personal papers shredded in different locations on Saturday.
Contained Storage and Shredding at 330 North Poplar in Centralia is holding its Community Shred Day from nine to eleven on Saturday morning. Every vehicle is allowed one banker box of paper to be shredded. This is a drive through event where everyone is asked to stay in their vehicle.
The Electronics Recycling Event is being held at Equity Realty Group at 1402 West Main Street in Salem from nine to noon on Saturday. Most electronic items including floppy drives and memory RAM will be accepted. Light bulbs, smoke detectors, carbon dioxide detectors and propane tanks will not be accepted. There is no cost except for CRT monitors and old-style TVs. There is a 50-cent per pound charge to dispose of those items.
