Jane Ann Jackson, age 85, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at Deaconess Illinois Crossroads Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Born on February 22, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jane was the daughter of Earl and Mable (Nye) Frederick.

Jane was raised in a home shaped by her parents’ strong work ethic and love. Her father, Earl Frederick, worked as a traveling tractor parts salesman during the week, and when he returned home, he devoted his time to caring for his girls, creating a steady and loving presence in their lives. Her mother, Mable Frederick, was a talented piano and vocal instructor who also worked in real estate, sharing her musical gifts and dedication with both her family and community.

Jane was a proud graduate of Miami University in Ohio, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She went on to dedicate her career to teaching, touching the lives of many students over the years before her retirement. Her passion for learning and nurturing others was evident both in and out of the classroom.

On November 11, 1962, Jane married the love of her life, Rex Arthur Jackson, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and shared experiences until his passing.

Jane had a wide range of interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She loved reading, quilting, and playing games. She was an active member of her Presbyterian faith and enjoyed spending time with friends in her Bridge and Canasta clubs as well as her Gourmet Club, where she shared laughter and companionship.

She is survived by her son, Steven Jackson and his wife Brenda of Texico, Illinois; her grandchildren, Joshua McIntyre of Sacramento, California, and Joshua Craig and his wife Amanda of San Jose, California; and her great-grandchildren, Ruby and Raven Craig. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Hoffman of Cleveland, Ohio; cousins Kit Cummings and his wife Valerie, and John Cummings and Gwendolyn, along with their families; and dear friends Tom and Connie Brueggeman, Verna Hughes, and her family.

Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rex Jackson; her parents; her son, Mark Allen Jackson; her sister, Lois Cummings; and her brother-in-law, Don Hoffman.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Crouse Funeral Home and CFH Crematory in Salem, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
