Kolin Ambuehl, 63, of Salem, passed away at his home on March 27th, 2026. He was born to LaVerne and Marcelline (Gentry) Ambuehl on January 19th, 1963, in Vandalia, Illinois.
He is survived by his sons: Tyler (Shanna) Ambuehl of Dietrich and Garrett Ambuehl of Florida; grandchildren: Christian, Jenna, Ava, and Madison Ambuehl; sister: Janeen (Greg) Hawley of Salem; brothers: Kyle (Lisa) Ambuehl and Todd (Alisha) Ambuehl of Salem; along with many nieces and nephews.

He spent many years as a dedicated mail carrier, a role he genuinely enjoyed for the connections it brought into his life. He took pride in his work and in the daily interactions with the people along his route, often going the extra mile to lend a helping hand or share a quick conversation. He had a sharp mind and quick wit, traits that made him memorable to those who knew him well. He also found peace in the outdoors, especially in gardening, where he could slow down and take care in watching things grow. At his core, he was someone who valued connection, simple pleasures, and being of service to others.
A public funeral service for friends and family will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 2nd at the Kinmundy United Methodist Church with burial following at Farina Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com or the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home Facebook page.
