The Second Annual Salem Community Easter Meal is set for this Saturday.

The free meal will be at the Grace United Methodist Church at 116 East Schwartz Street from ten to noon.

Chris Watkins of Saved with Amazing Grace says you are invited to dine in and have fellowship with others attending the dinner, or you can carry out or request delivery.

“We never know how many will show up, but we’re ready for a large amount every year,” Watkins said. “We’re expecting anywhere from 700 to 1500, so everyone come on out. We are doing 100 hams. We’re going to have the smoker out smoking them.”

Watkins says the total cost of providing the dinner is around $3,500.  Most of the cost has been covered, but donations are still being accepted.  Watkins says they are also looking for volunteers to deliver the meals.  Those who want to donate or want to help can call the Grace United Methodist Church at 618-308-0793.   The same number, 618-308-0793, is also the number to call to request delivery of a meal.

The dinner is being coordinated by Saved with Amazing Grade and the Grace United Methodist Church.
