According to Donald’s wishes, there will be no services. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donald Steven Genn was born on Tuesday, February 4, 1947, in Turlock, CA, to Donald and Frances (Willig) Genn. He married Margaret J. Leininger on February 14, 1976, and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2025. He retired from Statewide Tire, Vandalia. Steve was a simple man. You could most often find him in his chair watching TV, whether it be a sporting event, a western, or NCIS. He loved to sit around the fire, visiting with friends, drinking beer or a homemade beverage. You were always welcome at Steve’s place as he knew no strangers. He might have talked your ear off before you left but you always felt welcome! Steve thoroughly enjoyed being in the woods hunting or being on his boat fishing. Those were his favorite pastimes and he was sure to have a story (or a tall tale) for you when he was done. Steve was proudest when talking about his kids or grandkids. He loved to attend their sporting events when he could, fish with them or just sit and visit with them. Steve will be missed terribly by all who knew him and loved him.

He is survived by; son, Todd (Nancy) Blackwell of Brownstown; daughters, Lisa (Fred) Coleman, Donnellson and Jennifer (Trent) Logue, Beecher City; sisters, Patricia Machado, St. Elmo and Shirley (David) Chapin, Modesto, CA; 14 Grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustalynn) Blackwell, Cody (Kaitlynn) Morrison, Kyle (Mackenzie) Morrison, Bo (Adrienne) Blackwell, Anthony Wernle, Blake (Katelyn) Coleman, Erika Green, Alex Blackwell, Alexis Blackwell, Rodney Blackwell, Maizie (Brendon) Hollowell, Makayla Blackwell, Audria Logue, and Jayse Logue; 25 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends at Conservation Club 100.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, son, William ‘Billy’ Blackwell, sister, Janet Tuner, and brother-in-law, Dave Machado.
