The state may be able to soon enter the “Bridge” Phase of Covid-19 mitigations.
Enough seniors are vaccinated for Illinois to move into the Bridge Phase, which increases capacity limits in several different settings, But Covid hospitalizations are still a concern. Governor JB Pritzker says it appears that’s changing.
“It looks to me like we are on a decent trajectory. I can’t say what day that is but it feels and looks to me if you look at all the hospitalization admission date like we are in decent shape and moving exactly as I’d hope we would moving to the Bridge Phase.”
Pritzker reminds everyone of the CDC’s good news….that in most cases masks are not needed outdoors for many people.
About 55% of the population 16 and older has received at least one dose of the vaccine. More than 32% are fully vaccinated. The latest daily totals include more than 2,000 new cases and 28 additional deaths. None of the deaths were in southern or south central Illinois.
