Lena A. Miller, 103, of Centralia, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 at Centralia Manor. Lena was a homemaker and caregiver; she was always ready to help when needed. Her family looked forward to her fried chicken and chicken and dumplings. She was very active member in the Faith United Methodist Church in Centralia. Lena loved playing pinochle with her card club friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Due to Covid constraints, there will be no public visitation and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. If friends desire, memorials in her honor may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Miller Family. Lena is survived by her son, Bryan P. “Pete” Miller and wife Sara of Mequon, Wisconsin; daughter, Karen Shelton and husband Ron of Centralia; eight grandchildren, 16, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons; and long-time dear friend, Louisa Marcum of Centralia.
She was born June 15, 1917 in Centralia, the daughter of Catterina and Peter Mordini. She married Joseph Miller on February 20, 1936 in Salem and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1975. In addition to her parents: Catterina and Peter Mordini, and husband Joe Miller, she is also preceded in death by her daughter: Mary Kathryn Kurow and husband Tom, a grandson: Mark Shelton, two brothers: Constantino and Nello Mordini, and two sisters: Mary Lenzini and Jenny Roy.
