The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the number of deaths from COVID-19 related causes has now topped the 20,000 mark.   The 41 deaths reported on Monday brings the number of deaths to 20,002.  None of the deaths were in South Central or Southern Illinois.

There were 1,420 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed or probable causes reported on Monday.

The Marion, Clinton, and Fayette County Health Departments did not release any local updates on Monday due to the President’s Day Holiday.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 18 new cases over the weekend and Monday.   Nine of the cases were at the Big Muddy Correctional Center.   There are currently 45 in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting three new cases over the past three days.  There are currently 17 active cases.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting three new cases over the weekend and Monday.

The Wayne County Health Department is reporting four new cases over the weekend. 53 remain in isolation and three are hospitalized.

The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days has dropped back to 2.9-percent.   The Southern Illinois positivity rate has dropped to 2.7-percent.  The Marion County rate has fallen another two-tenths of a percent to seven-tenths of a percent.   The Metro-East Region rate has dropped to 4.8-percent.  The East Central Illinois Region seven day positivity rate has dropped to 3.7-percent.
