The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 32 additional COVID-19 related deaths on Friday, including a male in his 80s in Clinton County. It was the 88th death in Clinton County.
The Marion County Health Department is reporting nine new cases on Friday and confirming a death reported on Thursday by the state of a male in his 70s. The death was the 111th in Marion County since the pandemic began.
Of the nine new cases, one is a long term care resident. Another was a student who was not at school during their infectious period. Seven of the cases are considered community spread and two from household or close contacts.
There are only 27 active cases including 15 who are hospitalized including one on a ventilator. 349 have been released from isolation, bringing the total number recovered to 3,993.
The Clinton County Health Department is reporting eight new positive cases on Friday. There are 189 in isolation and ten who are hospitalized.
Jefferson County is reporting only two new cases on Friday, with 81 positives still in isolation.
The Washington County Health Department is reporting nine new cases on Thursday and Friday. There are currently 16 active cases and none who are hospitalized.
For the first time since August 13th, the Fayette County Health Department is reporting no new cases.
Wayne County Health Department is reporting two confirmed cases. There are currently 51 on isolation and three who are hospitalized.
Statewide, there were 2,598 new cases of COVID-19. The statewide positivity rate fell to 3.1-percent.
There were 95,375 doses of vaccine administered on Thursday, with ten percent of the people in Illinois receiving their first dose of vaccine. In all, 1,644,483 vaccinations have been given.
The Southern Illinois Positivity rate for the seven days ending February 9th is 3.4-percent. Marion County’s rate has fallen another two-tenths of a percent and is now just 1.1-percent. The Metro East positivity rate is 5.6-percent. The East Central Illinois Region is at 3.8-percent positivity.
