The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting five COVID-19 related deaths across South Central Illinois on Thursday. The deaths included a male in his 70s in Marion County, a female in her 80s in Clinton County, a male in his 80s in Jefferson County, a female in her 90s in Washington County, and a female in her 80s in Clay County.
The state reported a total of 102 deaths around the state along with 2,838 new cases.
The Marion County Health Department immunized 250 with their first vaccine shot at the Calumet Street Christian Church on Thursday. As a result, there is no report on COVID-19 cases for Thursday.
The Clinton County Health Department is reporting seven new cases. There are currently 209 in isolation and ten who are hospitalized.
Jefferson County is reporting 11 new cases with a total of 100 currently in isolation.
The Fayette County Health Department is reporting one new case on Thursday.
The Wayne County Health Department reported eight new cases. There are currently 50 in isolation and three who are hospitalized.
The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days is 3.3 percent. The Southern Illinois Rate is at 3.8-percent. The Metro-East is at 5.7-percent. The East Central Illinois Region is at 3.6-percent. The Marion County rate dropped another tenth of a percent to 1.4-percent.
