The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 53 new COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday, including a male in his 70s in Jefferson County.

The Marion County Health Department is reporting 32 new cases of COVID-19 for Tuesday and Wednesday.   Eleven of the cases are from three different long term care facilities.   Four are students.  Two were not at school during their infectious period.  One was on full remote.   The fourth was in class and is having contact tracing completed.  The department reports 27 of the cases are community spread and five are the result of household or close contacts.

There are currently 368 active cases, including 19 who are in the hospital and one who is on a ventilator.    A total of 3,644 are listed as recovered, but none during the past two days.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 26 new positive cases on Wednesday.  There are currently 239 on home isolation and ten who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 23 new cases, including eight at the Big Muddy Correctional Center.  110 remain on home isolation.

The Washington County Health Department reported two new cases on Tuesday and Wednesday.   There are currently 13 active cases with no hospitalizations.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting two new cases on Wednesday.

Statewide, 2,825 new cases were reported.  The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days is 3.3-percent.  The Southern Illinois Region has a positivity rate of 3.9-percent.   The Metro-East Region has a 5.6-percent rate.  The East Central Illinois Region rate is 3.7-percent.    Marion County’s seven-day positivity rate remains at 1.5-percent.
