MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Former NFL head coach Jack Del Rio has stepped down from his role on Wisconsin’s coaching staff after he was arrested near campus for operating a vehicle while intoxicated last week. Del Rio had joined Wisconsin’s staff in August as an adviser to head coach Luke Fickell. He said he was leaving so the team could focus on their upcoming games. Madison police said Del Rio was arrested Friday for a first-offense OWI after a vehicle hit a stop sign and broke a fence before resting in a yard. Officers said Del Rio was walking away and showed signs of impairment when they arrived.

UNDATED (AP) — Aaron Bradshaw and John Mobley Jr. each scored 16 points to lead five players in double figures as No. 21 Ohio State crushed Youngstown State 81-47. Ohio State played outstanding defense, holding a Youngstown State team with mostly new players to 24% shooting.The Buckeyes shot 55%, with Bruce Thornton scoring 12, Meechie Johnson Jr. adding 11, including three 3-pointers, and Sean Stewart 10. Bradshaw was 5 for 8 and had eight rebounds. Mobley was 3 for 4 from beyond the arc as the Buckeyes hit 46% of their long shots.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Eric Dailey Jr. and Lazar Stefanovic scored 13 points each and UCLA defeated Boston University 71-40. The Bruins improved to 2-1 after falling out of the AP Top 25 on Monday as the result of a loss to New Mexico on a neutral court last week. UCLA’s defense forced 28 turnovers, which led to 36 points for the Bruins. The Terriers dropped to 0-3. They got 10 points from Kyrone Alexander. Sebastian Mack added 12 points for the Bruins.

UNDATED (AP) — Kansas remained atop the first Associated Press men’s college basketball poll of the regular season after winning a matchup of basketball bluebloods. Gonzaga rose to No. 4 and Auburn to No. 5 after impressive opening-week wins. The Jayhawks received 44 of 62 first-place votes after a home win against North Carolina. That kept them ahead of Alabama and two-time reigning national champion UConn in an unchanged 1-2-3 setting. No. 21 Ohio State and No. 22 St. John’s were the two new additions to the poll. Texas and UCLA fell out from the preseason AP Top 25.

UNDATED (AP) — South Carolina is a unanimous No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll after a pair of victories to kick off its national championship repeat bid. The top eight teams in the first regular-season rankings remained unchanged with UConn, USC, Texas and UCLA next after South Carolina. LSU and Iowa State followed the Bruins. Oklahoma was ninth and Kansas State 10th. Stanford and Oregon entered the Top 25 at No. 24 and 25, respectively.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Julian Reese led a balanced attack and scored 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting and Maryland throttled Florida A&M 84-53. For the first time in program history, Maryland has started a season with three consecutive 30-point wins. The Terrapins opened the season beating Manhattan, 79-49 and Mount Saint Mary’s, 86-52. Tyler Shirley finished with 10 points and seven rebounds for Florida A&M.

UNDATED (AP) — Oregon’s dominance in its first year in the Big Ten and Indiana’s monumental turnaround have helped the conference stack four of its teams in the top five of The Associated Press college football poll for the first time. The Big Ten had three teams among the top five on 16 occasions in the 88-year history of the poll, including four times this season. Oregon and Ohio State are Nos. 1 and 2 this week and Penn State and Indiana are Nos. 4 and 5. Texas is No. 3. The Big Ten has no other ranked teams outside the top five.

UNDATED (AP) — Nebraska coach Matt Rhule announced Dana Holgorsen will take over as Nebraska’s offensive coordinator for the rest of the season and Marcus Satterfield would remain on the staff. Rhule brought in the former West Virginia and Houston coach last week to do an analysis of the Cornhuskers’ struggling offense. The Huskers are 14th in the 18-team Bigt Ten in total offense and 15th in scoring in conference games. Rhule said the offense hasn’t performed at the level he wants and that he went out and found somebody he trusts. Satterfield will continue to coach tight ends.
