Salem Varsity WildCats topped Wesclin Varsity Warriors 4-3 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. Salem Varsity WildCats were down 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Kyler King homered to left field, scoring two runs.

 

Wesclin Varsity Warriors got on the board in the top of the third inning after Lucas Harriss hit a sacrifice fly, and Ayden Peterson singled to center field, each scoring one run.

 

Salem Varsity WildCats made the score 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth after Eli LoGrasso doubled, scoring one run, Owen Tennyson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and King homered to left field, scoring two runs.

 

Carter Lowe earned the win for Salem Varsity WildCats. The starter surrendered seven hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Landon Jacobsen took the loss for Wesclin Varsity Warriors. The right-handed pitcher went two innings, surrendering four runs (zero earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking four. Harriss stepped on the mound first for Wesclin Varsity Warriors. The righty allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Brenden Smith collected the save.

 

King provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Salem Varsity WildCats with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Aaden Rostance, King, LoGrasso, Tennyson, and Zane Applegate each collected one hit for Salem Varsity WildCats. Salem Varsity WildCats turned one double play in the game. Salem Varsity WildCats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Tennyson had the most chances in the field with nine.

 

Peterson and Spencer Kuhn each collected two hits for Wesclin Varsity Warriors. Harriss and Peterson were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Wesclin Varsity Warriors. Wesclin Varsity Warriors turned two double plays in the game.

 

Salem Varsity WildCats welcome Richland County on Thursday for their next game.
