Ruben Perez, 63, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:27 pm December 8, 2020 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital. Ruben was a faithful member of Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a devoted kitchen aide at El Rancherito for many years. His positive attitude and kind spirit will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon with Father John Iffert officiating. Interment will follow at West Salem Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Ruben’s honor to the Perez family, in care of Ruben Perez, Jr. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. In addition to his beloved wife, Ruben is survived his children, Ruben Perez, Jr. and Carina Perez, both of Mount Vernon; five brothers and five sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born May 13, 1957 in San Jose de la Paz, Mexico to the late Rafael and Antonia (Leon) Perez. Ruben married Maria (Angel) Perez and they were blessed with 25 years together. In addition to his parents, Ruben was preceded in death by one sister.
