A 34-year-old Flora man was arrested following a Tuesday morning foot chase with Iuka Police that began after he pulled into the Mayor’s driveway.

Police were attempting to stop Kyle Applegate of Meadowview Lane for speeding 61 in a 30 mile per hour zone on the Iuka Road when he pulled into the driveway of the Mayor’s home.

Applegate and a passenger then fled in opposite directions. Iuka Police were able to stop Applegate about two and a half blocks away after deploying the taser.

Applegate was taken to the Marion County Jail for alleged resisting arrest, driving on a suspended license and speeding. The passenger got away and has not been located.

Applegate was treated at the scene by Iuka Fire first responders and United Medical Response before being taken to jail.

The incident occurred around 8:30 Tuesday morning.
