The Illinois State Police is working to ensure the public’s safety for Tuesday’s election.

The ISP has been preparing for months, participating in readiness exercises and utilizing the statewide terrorism and intelligence center to analyze potential threats.  Director Brendan Kelly says this will continue.

“The ISP will support state, local and federal partners as needed for threats to public officials, bomb threats, suspicious packages and other serious criminal investigations that could be related to elections.”

Kelly says the State Police will also be available to help local authorities with any problems at polling locations.
